The 11th Hour

American Flag

History tells us that on the 11th hour, of the 11th day in 1911 the guns of WWI finally ceased their fire for the first time in four years.  It’s hard to imagine isn’t it?

Or is it?

All week long I’ve been thinking about battles. I know there’s the kind waged over seas that call those we love to serve; but I’ve been focusing on another kind of battle, namely the one waged against women. I never used to think of it as war but it is. And the stakes are high.

The enemy? None other than Satan himself.

Genesis 3:15 says,

“And I will put enmity between you and the woman…” NIV

The Message words it this way,

“I’m declaring war between you and the woman…”

Sweet DoAheads, we have an enemy.  His arsenal is laden with lies. The enemy will try to slay us with dragons and if that doesn’t work he’ll jab us with nits until we want to crack.

But…the 11th Hour has come!

Christ called a cease fire. He is “the captain of our salvation” and his banner over us is love!  He has the conquered the enemy of our souls.  The insignia, standard or banner that waves as proof of his victory is his LOVE.

My “slant” for today’s devo was going to be a bit different. But last night I received a clip from a family member that was so powerful I had to share it. It brought me to tears. It professes truth. Truth about who we are.

Today flags will be raised. As they unfurl many of us will pause and acknowledge the sacrifice made for our freedom. I’m going  to watch this video again. Only this time I’ll be thinking about another flag of freedom being unfurled. It’s the banner that waves over you and I. The one that the lover of our souls and captain of our salvation holds. The flag is flying and if you look closely you will see these words,

“You are mine, you are loved and you are worthy.”
