“Prince of Piece”. These words crown a decorated sack that adorns our fridge each year. Our youngest son made it when he was 7. (Now that he’s fifteen I suspect he’d just as soon see it retire.) I used to hang it because it was precious and cute. As the years pass I find myself hanging it more for the meaning of the words than for sentimentality.
Oh, how many pieces we have.
Fragmented families.
Prodigal progeny.
Burdened bank accounts.
Fractured friendships.
Loss of loved ones.
Physical failings.
Heavy hearts.
I thank God that we have a Savior who came to transform our pieces into peace. Some seasons the pieces are burdens that carry the weight of a boulder. Other seasons it’s simply the constant unraveling of frenzied days.
Either way, we can choose to invite Jesus into the mess.
We can pause.
We can pray.
We can praise.
We can pass him our pieces.
Jesus…Prince of our Pieces.
Sweet DoAheads, will you purpose with me today to exchange at least one of our hard pieces for HIS PEACE.
” Dear Jesus, Today I give you this hard place. I have a burden too broad to carry. I cannot do it alone. Even if I thought I could, I wouldn’t want to. I want to do life with you. Please take take my broken piece and give me your perfect peace. Thank you for freeing me so that I can reflect on the gift of YOU this season. Thank you for who you are. Thank you for all you have already done. And as a friend thanks a friend for a favor about to be received…thank you Jesus for all that you are about to do.”
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.” John 16:33 NIV
