Blessing after dietary blessing passed from plate to palate in the Krall family during the holiday season.  The meals and memories were all a gift from God.

But now it’s time for tempurance. We are firm believers in enjoying and giving thanks for gifts like good food but we know when its time to pull it back a notch and  C-U-T  B-A-C-K! Consequently, today’s dining post won’t feature a favorite DoAhead recipe. Rather we’ll take 30 seconds and share a few low cal, healthy food options. Below are just a few ideas in no particular order:

  • Greek Yogurt with crunchy toppings (flax seed cereal is terrific).

  • Water packed tuna wrapped in lettuce.

  • Raw carrots dipped in low-cal cream cheese.

  • Poached egg on un-buttered toast.

  • Air popped popcorn seasoned with salt and dill.

  • Steamed Rice with Tamari and sunflower nuts.

  • Cottage Cheese with fruit and/or nuts.

  • Sliced Apples with peanut butter and/or Cheddar Cheese Slices

  • Baked Potato topped with steamed veggies.

  • Soup (“brothy” versus creamy…Kale Soup perfect example)
