My daughter loves arts and crafts. The girly girl was home from college for break and asked if I wanted to spend a “crafternoon” together. I laughed and asked what we were making.
I need a rug for my dorm-room to put my boots on.
She had read an idea for decorating outdoor mats. The re-do was simple, affordable and required virtually no talent (a pre-requisite for me.)
Check. It. Out!
Outdoor Rug Re-do
Items need:
- Rubberized mat (preferably with a pattern).
- Patio Paint (A variety of colors is nice but not necessary.)
- Sponge Brushes
- Paper Plates
- Drop Cloth
The Patio Paint (per the manufacturer’s description) is:
# Easy-to-use, one-step
# No sealing or varnishing needed
# Weather-resistant
# Will not crack or peel
# Scuff-resistant
# Non-toxic
# Easy clean-up while wet
# Water-based
Bottom line? It worked perfect for the project.
The application process is simple.
Spread out the paint cloth. Lay the rug on top. Pour a small portion of desired paint color on a paper plate. Dip a sponge paint brush in the color and then “dab” it on the selected area of your rug.
That’s it!
We repeated the process twice in order to get a more vibrant color. It was completely dry within 24 hours.
Hope this helps bring a little Spring to your front door! Even more I hope you get make it a “crafternoon” with someone special!
