Covered In Scarlet

Proverbs 31.  Typically not a chapter equated with Easter. But that’s one of the many things I love about God’s word…at any given reading or hearing, something new speaks.

Proverbs and I are like an old road home. You know the kind I’m talking about.

Brain is in neutral and without even realizing it you turn left on the familiar path toward home.

Until recently Proverbs 31:21 felt more like the neighbors mailbox… something I pass over so I can get to what I’m really headed for.

“She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet.” Proverbs 31:21 ESV

I’m certain every time I read that verse I took it at face value. I gave thanks for our family’s warm clothes and touchscreen thermostat!

But this time something was different.

When I read it, the words did this…

She is NOT AFRAID of snow for her household…”

A season of worry for my household had left my heart feeling like a load of towels at the end of spin cycle. These words were a promise.

Next, God took the promise and anchored it with a rope tied to heaven.

“…for all her household are clothed in scarlet.”

Of course. Scarlet. Covered in Scarlet.

Today the Proverbs path I meandered on took me straight up Calvary hill. Scarlet flows from it and my household is covered with it.  And I am not afraid.

May all my sweet DoAhead friends know the same.

Easter blessings,
