Cereal for Supper?

Cereal

Let’s face it. We’ve ALL had one of those nights. It doesn’t matter if the kids are two, twelve or twenty. The DoAheads  are done and gone and nobody (including the DoAhead Woman) has a clue what to make for supper!

It reminds me of the comic below…

Cooking Mommy

It happens…so let’s hold our heads high and recognize that none of our children will perish because of it. But since we’re on the subject, let’s rattle off a few ideas that might help the family survive such a scenario?  A couple of ideas areas follows:

  • Have cereal, but add fruit or yogurt on the side.
  • How ’bout popcorn and apple slices for supper (standard fare at our home on a Sunday night).
  • Cold meat sandwiches are quick and easy-add a few raw veggies and you’re good.
  • Scrambled eggs are a breeze to whip up.
  • Canned soup will do in a pinch.

What “emergency meals” do you whip up when the DoAheads have done and gone?

  1. Sweet Friend,

I love to see that people as organized as you sometimes have to just “make do” as well! 🙂 It gives the rest of us some hope that we may be as “ahead of the game” as you someday! 🙂
I loved this and the extra ideas! Breakfast for dinner is actually a highlight for our family because we have the time to make the eggs and bacon and french toast instead of the usual run out the door with a granola bar!

Another idea is to name that night “Wacky Night” and anything will seem special! 🙂

I look forward to more of your great tips!

    Blessings,
    Angie

    • I love the idea of “Wacky Night!” I had a friend who also called those nights “Fridge Parties”! Anything goes. Whatever the family can come up that is already existing or awaiting a new combination from the fridge! Aaaamen!
