I’m noticing a trend here. Not long ago DoAhead was on a tomato kick. Now we seem to be running with a pumpkin theme. Not sure what that says. (Not sure any of us wants to know.) All I can tell you is that our tribe is hungry for Pumpkin Bread.
Gramma’s recipe for pumpkin bread is the bomb. It’s got just enough cinnamon and cloves to make your tummy warm but it’s not over the top spicy.
It’s fall, its cold, its time for Pumpkin Bread!
Gramma’s Pumpkin Bread
Ingredients:
1/2 Cup Butter
4 Eggs
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
2 tsps Baking Soda
2 cups Sugar
3 1/2 cups Flour
1/4 tsp Cloves
1/2 tsp Salt
2/3 cups Water (cold)
1 15 oz can Pumpkin
Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs. Blend soda in water and add, then add pumpkin. Mix remaining dry ingredients together. Add and mix well. Bake in two greased and floured loaf pans for one hour at 325. Insert knife and pull out clean to ensure bread is cooked through.
If you want to prepare this as a DoAhead the bread freezes beautifully. We usually eat one loaf warm and freeze the other.
Enjoy!
