“Wheaties…breakfast of champions!” The bold letters served as a banner across the cereal box. Every so often a new athlete was featured. I know. I looked at it often! My sis would often have a bowl of the infamous cereal before school. The athlete on the front of the box would stare at me while she read the back of the box.
Early morning meals in our home today are not usually characterized by cold cereal. (Not because I’m such a great cook…our tribe just isn’t a huge fan of cold cereal.) Regardless, I couldn’t help but think about my own “breakfast of champions”. For me, it usually starts by curling up on our little brown couch with my cup of coffee and quiet time basket.
Strength for the day is served as I read, “Really! There is no such thing as self-rescue, pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.” Psalm 49:7 I’m grateful for the reminder that God will meet my needs.
My “breakfast” is seasoned with rules for living from the book of Proverbs. I’m reminded to curb my tongue. “When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.” Proverbs 10:9
Truth is digested as I ponder the faith of the Canaanite woman from the book of Matthew. Christ said to her, “Oh woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” Matthew 15:28 I’m challenged to evaluate my own degree of faith as I intercede in prayer for those I love.
My morning portion goes quickly. Thirty minutes flies by. We’ve all got places to get to. It is time to start a busy day.
But I am grateful…so very grateful to have started the day with the true breakfast of champions!
“Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words, became to me a joy and the delight of my heart…” Jeremiah 15:16 ESV

Your DoAhead Friend,
We share the same ‘breakfast’ tastes ;). I totally agree that spending time chewing the word is the most important time of the day–it sustains me throughout the rest of my busy day. Love the verse form Jeremiah!
Thanks for stopping over Anita! My “breakfast” was rushed today but I knew it would be. Prepped by having a late night snack before bed yesterday. Hope you are having a fantastic day!
