If you read Monday’s post you know our eldest Darling just graduated from high school.
It was awesome!
We had a surprise visit from his foster parents (Bill and Peg you rock!) We were also able to enjoy the company of many family members and friends. Our hearts were full from the presence of so many loved ones! The day after guests departed, my son and I began reliving the fun by going through cards and gifts. Oh my! The creativity and ingenuity in gift giving was amazing! I have to share!
One gift was a book of advice accompanied by a nifty assemblage of quarters, gift cards and bills. It was a cute way to give a college attendee a little cash, but with flair!
One page featured quarters for the washing machine. Another page had a gift card for gas.
You can find this nifty gift at: College Survival Guide-Tips, Tricks, & Little Financial Aid {Note: The only books I could find were gently used. If you’re serious about this little gem try the Hallmark website. The site was down for maintenance when I checked it, but you may have luck with it now.}
Some folks gave office supplies (you cannot have enough paper clips in college). While others gave microwaveable cookware. Once such item was an omelet maker, another was a pan with a perforated lid——ideal for making noodles!
A gift that stood out was a fake pizza! A pizza box had been picked up from the local pizzeria. Inside the lid it read, ”
The box contained a pizza made up of bills and quarters! Toooo cute!
Well, our fun weekend is behind us. But the memories linger as do the generous items given. Whether it’s the gift of your presence and/or presents at future graduations hopefully a few of these ideas will come in handy!
