Once in awhile I publish something and think, “This is so ridiculously simply is it worth the share?” When I’m tempted to skip it I remember the many simple things friends and family have shared that turned out to be:
- A family favorite desert.
- An amazing make-up tip.
- The best blue jeans E.V.E.R.
- A terrific odoriffic way to keep the vacuum smelling clean.
It’s the little things is it not? With that thought in mind I want to share my favorite, recent find for the kitchen. I purchased stack-able, glass cooking dishes and They. Are. The. Bomb!
The lids are flat so they stack beautifully in the fridge or freezer. The only downside is that it’s a bit trickier to get the lids off when they come out of the oven. I’ve found that if I use my heating pads with the silicone grips and grab on each side of the lid they easily lift off.
The photo below shows our leftovers in the fridge. They haven’t been primed for a photo shoot (Keepin’ it real.) but you can see how readily they fit in the fridge. When our high-school-er sneaks home for lunch we pop these bad boys in the oven. Food tastes better heated that way plus, rumor has it, food IS healthier when heated in the oven as opposed to the microwave.
Six Pint Baking Dish:
These dishes were not available for Prime Shipping. If you live in a part of the country (unlike Moi’) in which you can purchase them at a local store I’d go that route and avoid shipping cost!
Three and a half quart baking dish:
These dishes are larger and work great for double batches of your favorite hot dish or soup.
The best part is the lids can dual as a “pie plate”. They work great for plating an entire meal of leftovers. This was a trick I learned from my sweet mother-in-law.
If there were substantial left-overs from an evening meal she would make up her own “T.V. Trays”. Meat, potatoes and veggies would be plated in the pie dish and covered in aluminum foil. She would tuck them in the the fridge and then pull one out as needed. It’s the perfect DoAhead for keeping up with family members that have different meal schedules.
{See how putting leftovers in pie-plates results in “stars” in your food? It’s as if Tinkerbell flew right over your family’s meal. 🙂 }
That’s it for my teeny, tiny, eentsy, weentsy DoAhead Dining tip! And now the moment we’ve been waiting for. Two weeks ago I proclaimed the Vidalia Chopper the Magna Cum Laude of all kitchen accessories. In honor of the declaration, a chopper is being given away. All DoAhead Woman subscribers had their email addresses entered in a random generator (AND of those of you who commented on the post!) The winner is…
“ppg” from Brooklyn, New York!
{Dear ‘ppg’, I didn’t want to post your entire email address for the world to see. I know you know who you are!} Please email me your mailing address and I’ll get this bad boy off to you ASAP!
So glad each and every one of you stopped by. If you didn’t win the chopper never fear——–they’ll be more give-away’s to come. In the meantime let’s stay in touch on Face Book until we connect on Thursday!
