Remembering How Big God Is

Badlands 1

Sometimes I forget how big God is. You too?

I’m not sure what it is.

Daily life?

The hum of the hum-drum?

All I know is I forget.

Enter in paradox. I love that about God. At the same time it’s one of His qualities that can drive me crazy. He plays the “opposite game” better than anyone I know.

You know what I’m talking about.

Losing ourselves to find ourselves.

Giving because it’s the only way to truly receive.

This business of God and His “bigness” is no different.

I’m reminded of how big He is when I give pause to His presence in the small.

  • He keeps the planets in perfect balance but He doesn’t mind when I ask Him to help me find my keys.
  • He knows when the next Hawaiian volcano will burst just as He knows when my backyard tulips are about to erupt.
  • He’s as familiar with the cumulus nimbus 10,000 feet above me as He is with each molecule of oxygen in my lungs.
  • He attends to the affairs of Kings and nations all the while managing the sibling rivalry that’s occurring in my basement.

That’s how BIG He is.

He’s big enough to enter my small.

Big enough to not only enter it but peer down into it and care.

I don’t know if you needed to hear this today but I pray it resonates deep.

God is big enough for your “little” and He loves entering into it.

Because. He. Cares.

“God cares, right down to the last detail.” James 5:11 MSG

How can I pray for your “little” and “not so little” today?

  2. Ah, Cindy. Thanks for this. When I saw the subject line in my email, I smiled. It’s one of those times when I know the Spirit is at work because the same “theme” keeps popping up everywhere I turn. Beautiful reminder, lovely words, awesome pictures. Thank you!

  5. I love that He’s big in my small. I love that He sees every small detail that I make a big fuss about and still cares. I love our Big God! Love you too!

  6. This is beautiful. I love how you contrast the big and the small, and that God is big enough to know and care about all the little details of our lives. #LiveFreeThursday

  7. He’s big enough for our small and we’re never too small for his big! Now, if I could just remember that in my everyday life! Great inspiration once again, Cindy. Thanks, Cindy
