Two Ways to Beat the “Lie of Behind”

serpent-apple-2

Do you ever wish life came with a STAPLES “easy” button?

Up at the crack of dawn!

Gulping down a cup of  Joe!

No time for breakfast!

Email…junk mail…snail mail all accumulating daily!

Gutters to clean!

Plumbing to fix!

Bills to pay!

No more clean underwear! {Yikes.}

Good gravy! Life can feel like a battle!

What if I told you…it is.

This past weekend I and a group of lovelies immersed ourselves in chapter three of Genesis. May I share what we learned?

We all get behind.

But here’s the the really big news——–

Our behinds aren’t the problem.

Satan wants us to believe that just because we can’t always do enough it somehow means WE’RE not enough. (That wily bugger.)

A variation of someone who’s behind is someone who’s a “dust-eater”.

Where have we heard that before?

Genesis chapter three says:

“So the Lord God said to the serpent, ‘Because you have done this,“Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.'”

Hmmm. Apparently you and I are NOT the dust-eaters! How like the enemy to turn truth on its heels and leave us believing the polar-opposite.

There are two ways to overcome the snake.

Truth

The reality is we are going to be “behind”. We won’t get it all done. Life may unravel. But friend——–

You and I are daughters of the King. Beloved…beautiful…redeemed in eyes. And he is wild for us. PERIOD.

The second way to deal with a snake?

A Shovel

DoAheads are the shovel we can use to beat back the nasty fellow.

The one small thing that we’ve organized, cooked, or cleaned ahead of time can be our “na-na-NA-poo-poo” to the one who would prefer we see ourselves through the lens of behind.

Paul said this in Ephesians…

“Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued…” Eph. 6:13

Jesus Christ did not die on a cross for us to spend our days beleaguered and belittled by our culture or self-imposed standards.

Christ died for our freedom.

Let’s keep truth at the ready and a shovel handy because girlfriends…you and I are warriors. (Join me and others this weekend over at Suzie Eller’s #livefree. The convo? Warriors!!)

Your (Fighting the Lie of Behind) DoAhead Friend,

Cindy

  1. Cindy I love your perspective on this. So lighthearted but packed with truth and practicality! The lie behind the behind is so true! Thank you for pointing that out to me and connecting the dots. Blessing to my day:)

Thanks, Cindy for the reminder of a great message and a great weekend. So much fun and so many happy memories. So many times we get “snowed under” by all the “stuff” in our lives. I need to remember life isn’t about all the “stuff”!!!!
