Five Cold & Flu Busting Tips

My weapon is drawn and I’ve declared war! Seriously, we have had it with cold and flu bugs around our home! In the off chance you or yours are in the same position I’m sharing (in no particular order) five of my favorite tips for dealing with winter-time sniffles!

Zinc Lozenges

I have yet to find a zinc lozenge that tastes good but the ColdEeze brand isn’t bad. I’ll verify what the package says… use of these help me get through the bug faster.

Oscillococcinum

I’m glad I’m typing this and don’t have to pronounce it! A couple of days ago I could tell my body was headed toward another round of flu. I immediately started this. Twenty-four hours later I felt much better. It’s a tad pricey but so is the cost of missing work!

Oil Diffuser

I haven’t officially climbed on board the essential oil train but I’ll say this, a dot of peppermint or eucalyptus in my humidifier does wonders for my sinuses. If your home gets as dry as ours during the winter months a diffuser or use of oil in your humidifier may serve you well.

Oil Diffuser Necklace

My dear daughter bought me one of these for my birthday. When I was in the throes of a cold earlier this winter I scented the pad with peppermint. Throughout the day I’d take a whiff. The readily available inhalation of peppermint was a treat for my very plugged nose!

Time-Release Vitamin C

It’s hard to pound down vitamin C all day. My doctor recommended a time-released supplement. There are plenty on the market. It’s a great option for when you need to keep a steady flow of it in your system!

Of course, It’s also good to drink plenty of fluids. If it’s hard to meet your quota of intake consider fruit-infused water.

That’s it! I’m hoping you don’t need a single one of these tips!
